Svenska Volleybollförbundet bildades 1961 och sedan 1962 har Svenska Mästare korats.

Lidingö SK har vunnit 18 herrguld varav 16 i rad (1966-1981). 11 föreningar har blivit Svenska Mästare med sitt damlag. Sollentuna VK har vunnit 19 damguld varav 14 i rad (1975-1988).
